Arbortext Content Manager, based on PTC’s proven content and process management technology, provides a single source of information while providing access control and version control at every component level, preserving component relationships, and providing deep configuration management capabilities. Optimized for managing Arbortext-authored XML documents, Arbortext Content Manager supports collaboration of geographically dispersed teams and manages critical processes such as configuration management and release of publications.

· Support for work-in-process collaboration with experts subject matter experts from both within and outside the organization

· Protection of content from unauthorized changes, maintenance of a log of all document modifications, enforcement of interim checkpoints, and management of multiple review and approval cycles

Content Control and Management

· Support for structured XML content – automatic bursting of Arbortext-authored XML documents into reusable components, and protecting components from deletion if they belong to a document

· Management of multiple types of content including text, graphics and illustrations, links, and multimedia objects

· Document components share common security properties. Permissions and workflows vary based on the version and lifecycle of the document, and content changes are tracked and traceable to the individual user who initiated them.

· Visualization capabilities that enable users to view and markup documents (e.g. PDF files) and graphics (e.g. Visio) without needing the original application

Configuration Management

· Powerful configuration and workflow management capabilities enable users to choose whether to manage each component individually or manage entire documents with a single workflow

The system consists of Arbortext Editor, Arbortext Content Manager, and Arbortext Publishing Engine, which work together to enable automatic, on-demand delivery of up-to-the-minute information that aligns exactly with the product’s specific configuration and the reader’s specific needs.
